preview (there will be re-edits)

SETH AND I ARE IN LOVE..?

Lauren Engel, a fashion photographer based in Boston, asked me to help her out with her Backroom photo shoot a few weeks ago. I was thrilled about the opportunity and had so much fun on Saturday walking around Boston and taking behind the scenes-esque photos. It was a really nice day, and I'm glad Boston is finally warming up into the 70s, though we will be experiencing the cold and rain for the next few days... Anyways, after the shoot, Alex and Seth were around Copley, so we ended up meeting up and shopping on Newbury. Then we had dinner at Chilli Duck; I ended up getting Thai food again on Sunday... I have so many photos to edit from the shoot + dinner, but I'm swamped with work and studying, because my first finals are on Friday.

I'll update this probably sometime this weekend, but hopefully, for my GPA next week?

Till next time,
YJ

The Fens

confused as always

The Obstacles I go through for a picture..

Here are some photos I took in the Fens last week. I tend to take photos whenever I feel inspired, which doesn't work in my favor, because 9 times out of 10, the lighting is terrible and I'm never content with my settings. It's a weird mix of photos without any common theme.
I saw James Vincent Mcmorrow on Friday, and I'm bummed that I won't be seeing Cloud Nothings this week. April is a pretty good music month - hopefully, I'll also be seeing Julianna Barwick and Perfect Pussy before I go home?

Anyways, I have a pretty jam packed weekend that includes helping out with a Backroom shoot, LONDON GRAMMAR, dinner with friends, exploring B.U., and.. of course, studying. My last day of the semester is the 15th (whaat), and I'm not going home until the 25th. I'll be back on May 1st, because I'm taking summer classes and continuing with my internship and crying in between, because I have to start studying for the DAT.

TILL NEXT TIME,
yj

Spring

It's spring, guys - AKA the perfect time for some snow showers? Here are a few photos I've taken lately of spontaneous shoots and group related shenanigans. I also wanted to make the announcement that my series, [For]wards, will be unveiled May 2014!! I've been working on this series for around a year now. It's a spontaneous blend of photos that I've manipulated with a purpose in mind for each one of them.

THIS WEEK'S LINKS!

Hello -

I know I have been slacking with the weekly links segment, but since I'm on spring break, I thought it was fitting to write one up for this week! I'm not including the links I've enjoyed throughout the past few weeks - just the ones that I've seen in the past few days that have sparked my interest.

LIGHTING, LIGHTING, LIGHTING - Lighting is important for us to function as human beings as it keeps our biological clocks in check. Windows are often glanced over because of spatial and privacy limitations in large cities. Architects at mA-Style and Daniel Rybakken aim to combat this by incorporating perimeters of roofscape lighting and LED patterns to mimic the effects of natural lighting. (The former doesn't need to mimic natural lighting..because it includes it) Read more here

More clever/wittiness.. Mister Peebles, a London based artist, creates beautiful watercolors that incorporate neutral colors and clever wordplay of animals. CHECK THEM OUT! Click here for his website

When you think of seaweed, you most likely think about the "stuff" that covers your sushi, am I right? What if you got to enjoy your sushi with trendy patterns laden on the seaweed? Does this seem strange, perhaps a bit unnecessary? Well, Umino Seaweed Shop gives you that option with the new Design Nori line that incorporates a new laser cut technique that makes it more durable and less susceptible to stick to other ingredients. Design Nori was created in order to increase the level of seaweed consumption in Japan which has recently been on a decline.

Kind of late but still relevant. Here's some cool stuff I found surrounding Oscars coverage etc. etc. Still bummed that Act of Killing didn't win the documentary award, but..
CELEBRITIES: THEN AND NOW (Check out more here)
Jared Leto: 1994 vs 2014 (Sup, Jordan Catalano)
Meryl Streep (1980 vs 2014) (Does the woman age? Nope)
Amy Adams (1999 vs 2014)

Here's an article about Hayao Miyazaki who announced his OFFICIAL (see: official) retirement in September. I still have yet to see The Wind Rises.. Miyazaki is perhaps most well known for his films, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro.  Miyazaki will be missed dearly, but you can still enjoy his very complete filmography so I suggest you go do that!
